Claudia Fischer joined the Department of Health Economics in May 2018. She works as a post-doc scientist on the European H2020 project PECUNIA.
She holds a Phd in Public Health from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. During her PhD she also stayed at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London. In her doctoral thesis she focused on the validity and reliability of quality indicators used for benchmarking quality of hospital care. She holds a Master degree in Public Health from the Erasmus University Rotterdam as well as Master degree in Health Science specialization `Lifestyle and Chronic Disorders´ from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Further she obtained a diploma degree in Health Care Management from the University of Applied Sciences Carinthia (passed with distinction).
She previously held appointments at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) and Philips Research (Cambridge/UK). Her work at Philips Research focussed on the development of telemedicine products for chronically ill patients as well as on the development of strategies to improve population health.
Her main research interest includes the area of health system performance measurement and the development and the evaluation of quality indicators. She conducted qualitative and quantitative research in national and international projects (e.g. EU 7th framework project: HSR Europe).
